Buffer Zones for 2,4-D Applications Nearby Tobacco Fields

چکیده
ABSTRACT: An increase in 2,4-D use is expected as tolerant crops have been approved to Brazil, which may negatively affect important such tobacco. Our objective was determine safe distances between applications and tobacco fields considering herbicide contamination the harvested product. A field experiment conducted, consisting of a application done perpendicularly wind direction, using tractor sprayer. Drifted collected plants placed at various points (-50 up 400 meters from zone), following three schemes: a) 0 0.5 hours after (HAT); b) 24 HAT; c) HAT. Environmental conditions were recorded. Herbicide leaves quantified. Drift detected 200 m both years. Vapor movement strip 2016, on taken application. 2015 favored off-target (higher speed air temperature lower humidity); although, 2016 traveled further due wet deposition. These results indicated that 100-meter buffer zone enough significantly decrease chances above tolerated threshold, highlighted importance environmental transport processes for under conditions.

Parks, Buffer Zones, and Costly Enforcement
The reality of protected area management is that enforcing forest and park boundaries is costly and so most likely incomplete, due in part to the pressures exerted on the boundaries by local people who often have traditionally relied on the park resources. Buffer zones are increasingly being proposed and implemented to protect both forest resources and livelihoods. Developing a spatially-explic...

[1] Using dynamic rupture models, we examine the response of compliant fault zones that surround pre‐existing faults to nearby earthquakes. We find that some portions of a compliant fault zone can experience inelastic deformation due to dynamic stress perturbations, while the remaining portions deform elastically. Inelastic response of the fault zone results in sympathetic fault‐parallel motion...
متن کاملEffects of Terrestrial Buffer Zones on Amphibians on Golf Courses
A major cause of amphibian declines worldwide is habitat destruction or alteration. Public green spaces, such as golf courses and parks, could serve as safe havens to curb the effects of habitat loss if managed in ways to bolster local amphibian communities. We reared larval Blanchard's cricket frogs (Acris blanchardi) and green frogs (Rana clamitans) in golf course ponds with and without 1 m t...

Page 16 Pesticides and You Vol. 24, No. 2, 2004 As suburban sprawl extends further into the countryside, the numbers of people who live, play and work near agricultural land is increasing. Due to pesticides drifting, thousands of individuals are directly affected by adjacent or surrounding agricultural fields where pesticide use totals nearly a million pounds a year. Pesticides used on lawns, o...
